Hi all,

New version AVAST 2015 R4 (build number 2015.10.3.2233) has been released. No new features added, just fixing bugs.

Fixes in Avast 2015 R4:

How to install:

  1. Update from existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program

  2. Or you can download and install from here:

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).

To report BSODs, crashes or any other none trivial problems please use new SupportPackage generating tool.

I am updated to 10.4.2233.Few new thing like privacy and HIPS is removed one option.No problem so far :)I like the privacy option.Thanks AVAST! :wink:

I am happy with the extra privacy setting positioned there in the UI.
But I am curious why one HIPS option was removed. Maybe temporary untill Avast 2016 ?

Still doesn’t seem to fix .gif issue described in https://forum.avast.com/?topic=174202

I clicked the link in your other topic and the animated gif is working for me 10.4.2233, firefox 40.0.3 and winXP Pro SP3.

Also the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIF images all load, no blank gaps.

@JukkaG: Some GIFs also do not load for me :confused:

Told you that HIPS thing was far premature for mass usage. Not tested enough and also not configurable enough to solve things when they go wrong and you need to change settings.

Now they are using same settings as I’ve been providing for a while using my custom settings.

Update from beta version on a Windows 10 Pro system didn’t work.

Can anybody here tell me what else does the avast browser plugin other than have website reputation thing? does it do anything besides that?

I looked here:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log but cold not find any update.log ???
I also tried the update again today and received the same error.

Updated this morning from within the GUI … all fine so far

Update.log can be found here - c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Persistent Data\Avast\Logs

  • Blocks malware sites (which would also be blocked by AV core but this works in a standalone plugin also)
  • Corrects some typos in URLs
  • Blocks tracking (cookies) if turned ON
