AVAST 2015 R4 (2015.10.4.2233)

Updated via GUI from v. 2218 to 2233 with no issues on xpSP4
Thanks

Last I heard XP only has up to SP3 and then a heap of updates after that. No official SP4, but that would have been a good idea. I am also running XP Pro with SP3 and all other updates to date.

You’re right it not an official MS SP4 package.

Did upgrade to .2233 via a clean install.

But in order to do that, had to download full installer at beginning of topic.

After eight tries, was successful in downloading a full complete copy of AIS. All other copies were corrupted at the end of the download and all were tossed.

I see where bob3160 is getting Host Unreachable error when attempting to upgrade within gui; looks as if similar issue, if only as a network connectivity issue?

Firefox 40.0.3 still reporting AOS add-on as unsigned.

After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Build 10.547, I was able to update Avast
to 10.4.2223 directly through the program. ??? Very strange.

No issues with Avast Premier and Windows 10 Build 10547 so far.

Upgraded to 2223 on the previous Windows 10 Insider Build and then upgraded to 10547

Avast 2233 prevented upgrade to Windows 10 Insider Build 10547 for me.
Uninstalling it before upgrade and reinstalling after worked though.

Edit:

On second note:
It does not run correctly on Buld 10547. The UI never starts, and the PC was very unstable, including not being able to shutdown.

Bob, you can upload your log here: ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/

update went fine hre. updateded throught the gui. keep up the good work avast team.

Same here, on 3 laptops running Windows 7 Pro SP1. No problems at all.

thanks! installed thru GUI on Win7 SP1 and no problems (however, systray icon sure is busy [it spins when I type] and CPU was really high for a bit)

I can confirm that. I had to roll back my Windows 10 upgrade.
After the rollback to build 10532, my system still retained Avast version 10.4.2223 which was updated while using Windows 10 build 10547. ???
I don’t understand it just reporting it.

No problems on my windows 10 upgrade to 10547, once I managed to install it (3 attempts)
First few boots were a bit iffy and I nearly rolled back. But, now all is well on my system (apart from IE)

Updated on XP perfectly fine, runs perfectly fine , but a weird bug has reared it head: every time the pc starts the GUI is up and doesn’t closes by itself, it has to be shut down. Not a big thing, just a minor irritation, but it might be the sign of something worse lurking in the darkness.

Not seeing that on this XP Pro SP3 system.

I did a clean install of this version on Windows XP SP3. All went well until I restarted the system and something hanged after logon.

I use POSReady ‘Patch Tuesday’ updates. Is this known to cause problems with Avast?

Needless to say, I use alternatives to Avast (I do not miss the ‘emergency updates’). The last version of Avast which will work for me on Windows XP is 2015.10.2.2215. All subsequent versions are unusable.

Instead of using something you know causes problems with Avast, why not use something that continues to give you updates for Windows XP
and is used by several Forum members. More information about Windows XP SP4 at:

I noticed something else - the update popup no longer appears immediately after boot and to my knowledge it hasn’t appeared since the update. Again a cosmetic bug, the definitions do get updated.

Updated fine via the GUI on Win 7 SP1 x64 – interestingly, didn’t get the “complete your installation” (Chrome opt-out) screen after the reboot this time. I haven’t been in here all that often lately – did they finally smarten up and dump that while I wasn’t looking?
