A window popped up saying Avast will clean up browsers it didn’t say anything about bookmarks, unfortunately i hadn’t been logged into my Google account on my PC as I didn’t want these bookmarks on my phone…and my second HDD has Windows 10 testing. aagghh. I have until Dec.22 2014 to decide if Avast has just lost my biz.
Stay away from browser cleanup (it’s worse than useless) and you should be fine. The best way to remove add-ons is to use the browser settings.
The bcu isn’t removing bookmarks, unless perhaps if they are for harmfull sites.
Some posts about it:

The browser clean up tool is a piece of garbage. Periodically I see a pop-up saying that “we have detected extensions/complements/whatever with a bad reputation” like the shareaza web download hook. If i click “disregard” or I ignore it, it goes away, but after a while it will appear again.
What the hell is wrong with avast? which part of “IGNORE” didn’t it understand???
I want avast to ignore it, yet it will come nagging again after a while!
I’m really pissed!
There is nothing wrong with detecting the Shareza plug-in as one with a bad reputation.
It simply has a bad reputation so the detection is correct.
Ofcourse avast will detected it again if Shareza changed it.
Just because you have no clue on how the BCU is working/what it is supposed to do, doesn’t mean it is garbage.
