AVAST 2015 SP1 (10.0.2208) - web agent makes windows 7 crash

Hello,
I updated to 2015.10.0.2208 yesterday, and since my computer crashes (freeze, need power button to restart) when I start IE or chrome.
If I disable “web agent”, I can browse internet without any problem.

Am I the only one to encounter this problem, or is it a well known problem ?
any solution ?

This isn’t something that I have seen on either of my systems, but I use Firefox exclusively.

Disabling the Web Shield is a severe action - but one of last resort in your case.

Try these two things one at a time to try and pin down the culprit.

  1. Disable the HTTPS scanning in the Web Shield - AvastUI > Settings > Active Protection > Web Shield > Settings > Main Settings - ‘Enable HTTPS scanning’ uncheck this option and see how this goes.

  2. Remove/disable the Avast Online Security (AOS) add-on in your browsers.

Hello,
I already did disable the “avast online security” (at least with chrome)
I tried to disable https scanning, but with no success.

Finally, I uninstalled, cleaned and reinstalled avast, and it works now.
Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome,

That was going to be the next step - trying to deal with the less hassle route first.

Glad that you now have things working as they should be.
