Last month I installed the latest Avast version and I have been plagued by issues since then. I tried to uninstall it but one of the issues is that the program permanently asks me to restart the computer. (And keeps doing so after I restart.)
Whenever I try to uninstall Avast, I receive a warning that I cant do so because the computer was not restarted after my last operation. Obviously, the warning remains even after I restart my machine, so I am stuck.
Anybody can help to get rid of this ****? I run an encrypted dual core 2000 machine with XP pro installed.
thanks for the link and for your kindness. I am going to reinstall Avast 2014 which worked just fine. I have a lot of minor issues besides the one detailed above. For example, Avast 2015 takes almost 10 minutes to load when I turn on the computer (after everything else has loaded), Windows Explorer crashes frequently, Avast interferes with Truecrypt whenever I mount and/or dismount volumes, and so on.
Too many problems to try solving them. I rarely experienced so many bugs in one single program. Perhaps the 2015 edition is not really made for XP.
I tried the 2016 version but it does not improve on the situation
Rednose, I appreciate your helpfullness, but the issues are too many and I am no comp wiz. I’ll move to another antivirus, probably Avira. Thanks anyway.
