I have an issue with recent Avast update. Avast started to block access to facebook, gmail, google search and maybe other as well, but I am not aware of it yet.
Adding these web sites to exclusion list doesn’t help.
HI I also have this same issue their are times for no reason at all that a website will be blocked I am running the lasted version of avast free for example their are sometimes when I am trying to go to avast.com and avast free will block me from going their the reason I now this is because I have disabled the shields for 10 minutes and then went back to the avast page and everything comes up fine no problems what so ever. Avast free has done this for other websites as well over a span of several days. I should mention that I do have avast free lasted version on a new windows 8.1 64 bit system had Mcafee Live safe security on it I uninstalled it from programs and features. If their is a removal tool for mcafee live Safe security could you please provide details on where to obtain the removal tool please.
I couldn’t surf the web this morning after normal desktop access. Any activity with browser is simply stopped.
However, disabling Avast Web Shield protection, all surf activities get back to normal.
-Avast Free.
-2015.10.0.2208
-Win7, x64, SP1
-Comodo, PeerBlock. (They don’t affect the normal browsing activity. I tried that)
I use avast, and only it as AV, since the installation of Win7.
EDIT:
Disabling the HTTPS-scanning option of Web Shield worked and fixed the problem of surfing (thanks Asyn).
It seems that the blocking-problem is related to Mail Shield real time protection as well. Should I turn off options here? (SSL?)
It didn’t work.
In particular:
1.a I didn’t have any warning from Thunderbird. Without the warning, how could I notice Thunderbird didn’t work? After clicking on the Get Message button, you can see on the status bar the different operation TB (Thunderbird) does. It simply stops on the connection to the mail server.
1.b I followed the step from your link. I created the certificate and ensured the SSL option was checked. Then on TB I imported that certificate under the Authorities tab. The import was successful. I closed all the dialog windows and pressed the button Get Message. TB stopped on the connection to the mail server of each mail account. I exited TB and started it again, repeating the check of emails. The same behavior.
Any idea?
Note: Differently to the screenshots of you link, under my TB’s Authorities tab I have two certificates of Avast. “avast! Mail Scanner”, the same as the one used in the web link’s example. And the “avast! Web/Mail Schiled Root” certificate. It doesn’t seem to be present in the web link’s example. Is that OK?
Thanks
UPDATE:
After restarting the PC, it worked. I mean, I can check emails on TB and the SSL option of Avast is checked.
I don’t know if TB uses Windows services, maybe it is simply a bug of TB.
What is going guys? I have never had as many issues with Avast as I have the last 9 months or so. Telling alerting me about windows explorer being malware, asking for passwords which were never required for the free edition. I’ve got Avast 2015 free version Running on an Acer AspireV3-772G-7872 with an Intel Core i7-4712MQ @ 2.30GHz/2.30GHz, Win 8.1 x64, on 1TB HDD w/16GB RAM.
All the malicious program updates from Microsoft are up to date… I can’t run scans (which make it useless to me.) I can’t uninstall it, It asks for password for each. I’ve brought this up previously and one was sent from support, and it doesn’t recognize it. It tells me to switch my default search engine to Bing or Yahoo, it changes. I’m a long time user, and until this started happening, I regularly recommended this product.
This is extremely frustrating. If it can’t be resolved to my satisfaction this time, I’m going to run a full reset back to the factory defaults. I would hate to do that for 2 reasons, first in spite of these issues I believe in the product. Your software has protected my machines for years and I still trust the company. And second, it would mean hours of reinstallation for all the office and engineering apps.
Same for me today avast blocked all my browsers access to everything just came up with connecting all the time, also web shield was de-activated(not by me) and i could not re-activate it!!,in the end i had to uninstall avast from safe mode as normal uninstalion in programs uninstall just went into continuos waiting forever loop syndome, also avast uninstall utility did not want to work either.
After uninstalling and re-installing avast free all seems to be ok for now AVAST FREE :2015.10.0.2208 VIRUS DEFINITIONS:150128-0 …RUNNING WINDOWS 7 64 BIT,would be interested to know from the guys tech as to what has happened here.
Regards and thanks for still i reckon the best free VA.
I just got hit with this about two weeks ago. Every time I would log into an online gaming site I would be blocked. I had to disable the Web shield and the Secure DNS shield. However this thread just solved my issue.
