@frg

I check back here when I have time but I’m sorry to be slow to reply to you as I’m mostly concerned with keeping my older duo core system functioning and felt others would be better at dealing with your concern for slowness in your much faster computer. I have turned off Hardware Acceleration and many other features of Avast to increase the speed of my older system. By doing this I have returned some speed back. Bottom line for me is if my computer is too slow I can’t use it anymore.

I too am concerned about these performance hits on my other newer systems and for this reason I too am beginning to look for a faster less bloated AV but combining too many changes makes it harder to tell what is slowing things down. I have not tried windows 10 yet for this reason and I have seen many post that say they can’t even get Avast and win 10 to work together. I’m glad that at least for you that win10 an Avast are working together. Try turning off any features you don’t use. I do believe in my case turning off the Hardware Acceleration did the most to restore basic speed to my older system.
