Congrats on the new version! I have been a loyal Avast user since 2005.

I run on Vista Home Premium SP3.

The previous 2 versions of Avast free were an unmitigated nightmare. While browsing, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox crashed, the laptop froze and I had to hard reboot. This happened 2-3 times a day. Other users reported the same in various threads in here.

I had to roll back to version 2218 and all the problems - repeat: ALL the problems - vanished overnight! My comp hums along contentedly.

I am afraid to install the new version (2016). I am terrified of going through the same catastrophic mess. In short: I am post-traumatic …:o))

Does anyone with Vista care to share if there are any problems with 2241 (crashes, freezing, restarting, etc.)?

Many thanks for your understanding and support.

Yarok

Updated from the GUI, no problem. Removed the Password feature and restarted still no problem, let’s see if anything crashes, which I doubt it will, but so far so good.

What your operating system?

Click on the Scan Icon and you will see the scans available.

Windows 7

Thanks, I see it now.

If the shortcuts we used to see on the main screen are gone, I guess all I can do is hope they see sense and bring them back.

You’re welcome.

I can’t do anything about the front page as an avast user like yourself - do I like it no.

What in the world is this? I installed the Avast 2016 Free Edition and it shows me this? I did a clean install of Avast 2016. Previous I had the stable version of Avast 2015.

Also it shows me internal server error when signing in to avast account via GUI. Signing in to avast account via website shows no problem, but it still shows me that Home network security is not installed and give a red colour and also on my name MyName - HP it says unknown. I reported this issue few times and still not fixed. By the way, about the internal server error i already gave the feedback via gui. Hope Avast team reads it.

Edit: Signing in to Avast GUI works now, but there’s a problem that i reported few times and still not solved. You can review it by one of my support ticket. Ticket number is #BYU-790-31187

Updated xpSP4 via GUI and the upgrade from 2015 went smooth but took some time as my Comodo was very active.
Now I’ll play around and see if all works.

Mine updated but still has the beta tag. Should I do a clean install?

Yes

The Avast GUI is giving me a headache as RejZoR has already pointed out some of the problems  ??? :-[ :-X

Would be nice if avast! Online Security extension for Firefox was signed (I’ve downloaded it from my.avast.com)…

+1

Run Smart Scan is all you need to do - I think telemetry will show it’s all most users do.

Updated without any problems, laptop is noticeably quicker browsing the web, keep up the good work guys.

Good Job for the new version guys.I love the new UI and the way settings and shortcuts are sorted out.Just took a few minutes to figure everything out.

Though i have to choose custom install for there are some features that i don’t need so far.Overall, its all green for my Win7 32bit system. Thanks a lot avast team.

Shouldn’t take long considering only the first page changed.

Looks OK so far.

Two issues:

  1. Seems to have duplicated all of my devices in my online account. Weird. Licenses don’t show duplicates, but I have dupes of every device in the device list.

  2. Don’t know where to access the scan history. I liked that tool in the older version.

Positives:

  1. Quick update was glitch free.

  2. Interface is attractive and responds rapidly.
