Avast 2016 - Remove e-mail footer/signature (no Mail Shield)

Hi all,

I just updated to Avast 2016 (11.1) on my Windows 7 computer.

I would like to remove the e-mail footer/signature it attaches, but I can’t because I don’t have Mail Shield installed and cannot uncheck the options under the menu. I don’t want to install the Mail Shield component just to get rid of the e-mail footer/signature.

Please help. I just want to keep using Avast as always and have been desperately searching for the answer. Thank you.

Presumably this is related to webmail ?

If you don’t want to install the mail shield to remove them I’m afraid you are stuck with them as currently there is no option in the Web Shield to do this for webmail.

On a later program update it is intended to replicate this option on both web and mail shields, when this is likely as an avast user like yourself I don’t know.

Thank you for your reply, David. I’m happy to see that a user in that thread you linked has found a solution.

Still, just in case any Avast team members see this, I urge them to please add the option to disable the e-mail footer/signature under the Web Shield options menu or wherever appropriate.

The editing of the EmailShield.ini would seem to be the lessor of two evils for you currently.
