Avast 2017 Avast On-line Security

Avast 2017 Avast On-line Security 12.0.163 : failure to retain global settings

The Avast Browser Security and Web Reputation Plug-in is installed to work with Firefox 51.0.1 (32bit) on Windows Vista.

With Avast 2016 the equivalent plug-in maintained the global settings at all times.

Using the Global Settings / More Settings link the same options are available with Avast 2017.

However when the settings are made and saved, the current version fails to maintain those settings. It is reasonable to suggest that the settings have to be checked each time either a new tab is opened or a new website is visited.

Also the Allowed / Blocked / Enabled / Disabled links are really confusing as to the meaning. Do I click to disable or does the link show current status?

It is absolutely pointless having a security feature that is inconsistent and unreliable.

Please show me how to implement master settings that are retained at all times until changed (the settings are retained between web pages, between web sites, between tabs, between windows, between machine boot cycles, etc => once set, stays set)

Do I revert to Avast 2016 or is there a solution?

The settings in AOS on Firefox are saved via cookies. Cleaning those cookies also wipes out your AOS settings in FF.

Many thanks, Bob.

Thought the problem might be associated with my frequent use of CCleaner and System Ninja to declutter the system. Cannot recall a similar problem with Avast 2016.

Now to look for the cookie and exclude it from future decluttering or cleaning by FF on closing.
