Hi guys just downloaded the update to avast 4.5.
Currently running Avast 4.5.523 HE on a Windows XP SP2 machine. I have the same problem as before avast was updated. That is that avast will not scan e-mails or insert notes into any e-mails being sent or recieved via Outlook Express.
If you need any more info or have an idea why then happy to help.

That would be a good idea. Sorry never paid attention that there was a new version. Will download and let you know, might take while though cos i’m still on ‘good old dial-up’!

Make sure OE is shut down before starting Avast download. You will need to return the settings of OE back to “normal” ISP addresses and server names.
No configuration is necessary with the new update.
Let us know if everything works ok. I still am having problems with my OE on the SMTP side that 531 did not resolve. Any information you can offer might help.

Techie, what exactly is the problem? Let’s try to solve it with 4.5.536 - it will be an interesting exercise.
