This morning I received a strange error. When I klick on Get Messages (Mozilla 1.7.3) button I always receive this message:
Could not connect to Server 127.0.0.1; the connection was refused.
This look like it is really easy to solve. Avast 4.5 mail protection works pretty different from 4.1. Setup your mail as if it was that Avast isn’t there. See if that is working.
Take care, I love AEC too but it has a lot of ‘troubles’ while enabling/disabling avast version 4.5. RejZoR said that and he’s trying to solve the problems 8)
As Eddy noted, mail protection in 4.5 works automaticly. So can setup your account as if avast! is not installed (no 127.0.0.1, put your real pop3 server here).
Anyway that does not mean that the old way shouldn’t work too. So there must be some other problem. Please re-check your account settings.
Lucas, sorry the ‘off topic’ but what changed in the 4.5 to avast! External Control from RejZoR cannot disable/enable the providers as before. The ‘restart’ of avast! isn’t working either :-\
Technical, most probably it would the fact, that Internet Mail provider is now running as a service. It’s name is “avast! Mail Scanner”. When I choose “avast! Main Control” in the External Control program a then “Disable avast! antivirus Protection” it remains frozen until I manual stop this service and “avast! Antivirus” service. (net stop “avast! Mail Scanner”, net stop “avast! Antivirus”)
I don’t know how exactly this External Control works, but my guess is this.
Bye.
Lukas.
In fact, it will be better on avast 4.x Home/Pro board
This is only for the betas…
Which is your operational system?
Can’t you set the ashMaiSv.exe (a Windows service) to ‘disable’?
If you’re using Windows 98, can you make your changes, stop avast and then boot?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Change function in the popup window
See if the providers are correctly added.
