Avast 4.6 Home Edition

In the last couple of days I have had a little symbol on and off in my icon tray and every now and then I get a pop up from AVAST saying "avast! Connesction timed out… Internet connection timeout elapsed. Continue waiting? (IMApp.exe → bt1.mail.vip.ukl.yahoo.com:110)

All my Internet access is very slow (I have Broadband so it shouldn’t be like this) also my email is a little slow… Does anyone know what is causing this?

Many thanks for any help received

Sounds like problem with your email. (IMApp.exe -> bt1.mail.vip.ukl.yahoo.com:110) < imap email for paying yahoo customers only.

About the speed, it can be many things. First make sure your system is clean.
To clean a system from malware (and protect it against) follow the instructions in the malware removal section on this website: http://mrspock.dsmirc.co.uk

What is your email program?
What is your OS?
Do you have a firewall, if so what?

The little symbol (icon) is likely to be the Internet Mail provider icon, to indicate email is being sent or received and checked.

What concerns me more is the timeout as I don’t recognise the file name IMApp.exe, is this your email client? - if it is then You should try extending the timeout delay in your email program.

I would suggest you schedule a boot-time scan from within avast and also some of the anti-spyware/adware tools below. if there are any other malware programs running in the background then this could be sharing your connection and slowing it.

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.

  1. Ad-Aware
  2. Spybot Search and Destroy
  3. Spywareblaster Don’t install this until you are clean.
  4. Ewido Security Suite

IMApp.exe is part of Incredimail.
So the question of what email client is answered
