I am new to Avast. How do I configure the mail, P2P shield, etc. in this program? mslac
Hello and welcome to the forum mslac 
What WIN have you got. If your Windows is WinXP the Internet Mail Provider should work automatically and there is no need to set anything 
The P2P Shield should work automatically too
Also for more info you can check the help files of the program
Is your P2P program supported, check the list in the P2P Shield provider ?
If so ensure that P2P is ticked.

To check your provider settings, left click the “a” ball in the Task tray once. Now, scroll up or down the left pane and select a provider.
As an example, select P2P by left clicking it once. To select a P2P program, click the Customize button. You now will have a window with a list of P2P programs covered by Avast. Checkmark the programs you want to have monitored. Click OK and then click OK again … or select another provider before the second OK if you would like to change settings for another provider. Please, do not change any settings unless you understand what you are changing.
