Avast 4.7 blocking application ! ! !

i am using Avast 4.7 bt recently its blocking application [exe file] … its a screensaver created by me …

i want 2 run it … how can i ?

You can unblock it with …

  1. Right click spinning avast> Program Settings… > Exclusions> Browse or Add(Your file).

Try pause the avast Standard Shield then run the file.

  1. avast isn’t a blocker but a scanner and if malware found then it will alert, it isn’t a blocker. So what exactly do you mean by blocking ?

If it is an alert, what is the malware name, the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.

  1. The latest version of avast is 4.8.1169 so your version is dated so you must have program updates set to Manual or they are failing ?

Based on the possible old 4.7 version I would have to question what VPS version are you running (the latest is 080430-1) ?

You have been told to enter it in the wrong exclusions area, it should be in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add for on-access exclusions. Though I wouldn’t exclude it just yet without first checking it (I know you created it).

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here. I feel virustotal is the better option as it uses the windows version of avast (more packers supported) and there are currently over 30 different scanners.

Did you change Behavior blocker settings into avast?

Thanks DavidR for the correction and i doesnt know how to unblock application by going here [b]Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add for on-access exclusions[/b]. Can you teach me? Is it just click add and type in the name of the application?

bt cannot find option of “standard sheild”, where is it ?

Standard shield is on the On-Access Protection Control. Right click avast spinning icon> On-Access Protection Control> Standard Shield

I assume you have now found how since you posted an image highlighting the Standard Shield ?

If not the next step is to click the Customize button, then the Advanced Tab, then the Add button and type the path to the file you want to exclude. It would be nice if this option also had the Browse button function of the program settings, exclusions.

i just found the way …

i clickd on “PAUSe” standard sheild … & voila its showing up …
