In logs event of WINDOWS XP Professional write " Application call error. Error in 31/03/2008 @ 21:45:31.687 call exception c0000005 in addres 0041114F (avast)!Source - Dr/Watson /Error 4097.
I try update my virus dbase, connecting ok at 5 985 634 byte, at all time i resieve message from avast scaner acces that Attack DCOM Exploit bloked , attack on address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:135, virus dbase is stop updated (speed update =0).
Check all system - avast dont see enithig - not script or virused exploits.
Error 10906,7,8,9. avast can`t check your pop3 post, smtp, imap and either post protocol!!!
What is that - hole on avast, damaged or just Windows (GRYOBANOE)?
2 & 3. that is the network shield at work and it has blocked on the internet before it got on your system, so you will find nothing on a scan.
What is your firewall (as that should really have been the first line of defence) ?
what is your email program ?
what is your ISP ?
does it use SSL/TLS secure encrypted email ?
probably the real culprit is another scanner monitoring those aspects. Have you another AV installed (or had you) or program that monitors email and if so what ?
I would first say do a manual program update as version 4.8.1169 has just been released, so we aren’t trying to chase a problem that isn’t in 4.8.
