Avast 4.8.1229 not recognised by Windows XP Security Center

Hi there,

Just downloaded and installed Avast after a clean install of Microsoft XP Pro, having updated drivers etc and am running service pack 2 at the moment. Looked at the previous posts on this issue and have tried out what was recommended, however, it has not worked.

Windows security centre pops up every time I start my machine saying that “avast antivirus 4.8.1229 [VPS 080923-0] reports that it might be out of date”.

Has anyone received any more widsom about this problem since the last thread which was over a year ago?

Be very grateful for any help you can give me.

do a update of your virus database!

its too old and has to be updated…

And if you have in fact updated it, and still get the message, check your system date/time.
