I have several PC at home with Avast v4.8.1356. During a routine scan yesterday suddenly all of them come up with virus warning and inflected files. A lot of the files have been in those PC for several years (mostly Reflexive downloaded games). Many of them are said to be inflected with either Win32:Trojan-gen or W32:Malware-gen.
I submit some of them to virusscan.jotti.org and www.virustotal.com for multi-engine scan and most of them came up clean with all other scanners except Avast (and GData also for some files). So should I believe in Avast along and not the other 20-30 engines?
Is Avast’s signature or engine have a major/sigificant upgrade recently? I’ve been using Avast for the past 2-3 years how come it never scan out any of virus as the files been there all those years?!
Is it possible that there is some sort of error in Avast’s engine or virus database??!!!
