Since upgrading to Avast 4.8 Pro when windows starts NONE of my networks will load, i dont have access to anything, internet, bluetooth etc. I cant access anything such as my computer or anything else its as if the system freezes.
When i go into safe mode and system restore back to 4.7 all works again fine.
Im running an Athlon 4200 X2, ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe Nforce 570 SLI Board, 2GB DDR 667Mhz, 320SATA II Hard disk, Windows XP Pro Retail SP2 with all the updates.
I and my friend have quite powerfull PC and avast home. I didn’t update new avast immetially. Yesterday I did. Game is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and didn’t have problems before updating avast. Friend updated and after that he got lagging and freezing problems with ET also ping was awful.
I didnt believe instantly that just updating avast could affect to ping. Today I tried it also and I’ve now same problems. I tried to stop avast scanning main .exe -file and punkbuster’s/evenbalance’s PnkNstrA and PnkBstrB processes. It didnt help. Next I’ll try to close avast when I go to playing but I really dont know will it help because it didnt help my friend.
Is there something processes or programs what should be closed during gaming session?
Disable the self-defense module and you’ll ‘restore’ the 4.7 environment.
Take a while for the programmers to reproduce the problem and try to solve it.
There are two Exclusion lists:
For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…
You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be careful, you should ‘exclude’ that many files that let your system in danger.
Version 4.8 is not mandatory, so if you reboot your computer after installing the 4.7 with no Internet available, make the settings changes to manual… it should work.
