avast 4.8 home can't detect/fix few things

hello,
i have been using avast for quite sometime and recently i used my pendrive outside in a cafe and used it back with at home.

the laptop has 4.8 pro version and after using the pendrive for 10-15 mins i restarted the laptop and when i open the window explorer i notived that all the folders in pendrive have a copy of the folders but with extension .exe for example;

songs and songs.exe

i dont what happened but i checked the pendrive against avast but the tool could not detect or fix something.

any suggestion or guidelines here will be of great help

Hi bhavtosh. Welcome to the forum.

  1. For cleaning up USB drives. download either of the following setup programs to a clean PC and then run on your USB drive(s). Follow instructions carefully, whichever one you choose.

Auto Eater - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Autorun-Eater.shtml

Flash Disinfector - http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe
With this setup, you may be asked to insert your flash drive / other USB drives. Scan and clean is taking place and program will sometimes flash. Reboot computer when program finishes.

Also - Note: Flash_Disinfector creates a hidden folder - autorun.inf - in each partition and every USB drive that was plugged in to the program. Don’t delete this folder…it is there to help protect your drives from future infection.

  1. In the meantime you could look to protect your own host computer with the following.

  2. Obviously, you will also (firstly) need to clean your computer if it is infected.

Edit - reply post if you need help with step 1. - Clean up infected computer.

appreciate your reply and i shall try these options out.

however my question is still unanswered that why avast is not able to do so? even when i plugin any infected pendrive then tool must catch it?

would be nice if some config options are present in tool for USB as well
