avast! 4.8 home edition always freezes at around halfway

Hello, recently I had a virus or some sort of malware on my computer that I thought I got rid of using system restore. Of course, I felt a bit skeptical so I ran the avast antivirus to start scanning my computer. But whenever I run it, it has made my computer freeze before it ever completed. My computer then won’t respond to alt+f4 OR ctr+alt+delete and won’t shut off without me manually pressing the power button. I have no idea about viruses and would really appreciate some help to what’s going on.

Also when I open Windows Task Manager, there are two processes called WUDFHOST.exe that are running. One taking up 2,968 K of memory and the other taking 1,512 K of memory. I tried ending process to both of them and one of them keeps coming back. And if I right-click the process to see it’s properties, nothing comes up. I checked the properties of all the other processes and they showed up. If that seems like a virus? Please let me know

Did a google search and found this…

wudfhost.exe is a Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework Host Process\r from Microsoft Corporation\r belonging to Microsoft® Windows® Operating System\r Author: Microsoft Corporation

Part of: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System

Common Path(s): %system%

So this may not be a virus…
Why don’t you go for a boot time scan…?

Thank you I’ll try that right now
