Avast 4.8 Home Edition support

I am using a pc with Windows 98 on it and it does not have resources to use a newer version of windows. It is 500 megahertz with a 10 GB hard drive and 128 mb of memory. I am using Avast 4.8 Home Edition on it. I have just read that the new version 5 will not run on 98.

This is about the only security program that runs really great on my system without slowing it down and I would hate to lose it.

Can you tell me how much longer I will be able to get the virus def updates for the 4.8 Home Edition?

Sorry about that, the date has not been finalized yet, but is likely to be sometime next year.

One year… as far we know. The support for Windows 98 was about to be only until the middle of 2010.
