Avast 4.8 on WinXP

I started to re-use my old Win XP pc which has Avast 4.8.

The PC is very slow and it struggles to run Avast 4.8. Would an upgrade to a later version of Avast create even more load on the PC?

Please kindly advise.

It seems it is time to upgrade from Avast version 4.8

My PC is very slow. Is there a replacement version of Avast which will not be “heavier” than version 4.8? i don’t want to slow my machine down.

  • Does your CPU support SSE2…?
  • How much RAM…?

I use WinXP/SP3. The cpu does not support SSE2. RAM is 1.5GB.

Which version do you suggest?
