Avast 4.8 Pro not accepting licence key...

Hi,
Apologies if this is a newbie question but I have not found the answer i need from searching on the forum…
I have had to purchase a new computer (the old one does not work any more!) but I still have 7 months on my last Avast 4.8 Pro licence.
I have installed Avast 4.8 Pro on my new computer but it refuses to accept the licence key that I used from my last machine. It says that the “Parameter is incorrect…”
From reading other threads - the licence key should be transferable and I am still only using the key on a single machine.
Can you offer assistance please.

Yes, the license should be transferable… how exactly are you entering the key?
Do you have the system date/time set correctly?

Is your system date/time correct?
Do you use copy & paste method?
Are you sure you do not include the ‘last blank space’ in the paragraph while copying & pasting?

Which other antivirus does this machine have before avast?

If you don’t know then you can always try Trend Micro Hijack This and copy and paste the findings in your next post to see if we spot any antivirus services.
