avast 4.8 use too much CPU ?

my avast 4.8 use too much CPU and sometimes my mouse lag -.-

is a new bug of this version? i have windows vista ultimate 32 bit. on italy sp1 coming on april. for now i have already applied all updates from windows update, also all nvidia hotfixes.

I don’t think there is a bug. If you open Standard Shield, which is the file being scanned?
Do you use the Home or the Pro version?

and my pc is not a slow pc.

My system is no racehorse and I don’t see that (it also isn’t running Vista though), what other security software are you running.

Did you set the Standard Shield sensitivity to High or it is on Normal level?

high level. there is also spybot installed.

I would set it to Normal, the default, which provides the best balance between protection and performance and what I have been using for just under 4 years.

Spybot S&D (if that is what you are talking about) may have an impact on your system if you have the resident part of it enabled (disabled by default). Wehen I used it I didn’t have the resident function enabled.

So… maybe this is the reason for the high CPU usage like David said.

Then it shouldn’t impact on CPU unless you happen to be doing an on-demand scan with S&D, so your issue if the High sensitivity you have set in the standard shield. Set to Normal and test.

Of Spybot? Ok, but the better will be letting Standard Shield at Normal level and not High…
