I installed Avast Home 4.5.523 and the blue icons remained gray. McAfee Security Center does not recognize that an antivirus program is installed. Is this normal? I am using WIndows SP, SP2 with an Intel Celeron 1400 and 768 megabytes of memory.
It is never recommended to have two av’s on one system. Mostly it will lead to conflicts and even can result in both not working and having a unprotected system.
The McAfee Security Center is part of McAfee Personal Firewall Plus and not VirusScan. I still cannot get the icons to turn blue after almost eighteen hours. Does the Virus Recovery Database have to be finished before the On-Access Scanner icon turns blue?
Normally (under WinXP) the icons are not dark blue, they’re like grey blue. See the attachment
