I am running Windows XP Pro, Avast 4, and have two CD-ROM drives – a CD and a writeable CD.
If I attempt to access one of the CD drives with a blank CD-R or a CD-R that’s been recorded to my CPU shuts down. Instantly.
This happens if I access the CD through Windows Explorer, My Computer, or through the autostart CD-R/CD-RW formatting program.
This does not happen with prepackaged CDs, like MS Word, games, utilities, etc.
If I uninstall Avast, I can access the CDs and the machine does not crash. When I reinstall Avast, the computer once again crashes.
Suggestions? Ideas?
Thanks.
