Hi All.
I have a rather simple question.
Is there any way I can run Avast from a floppy? Example: A computer not starting, and not being able to access the OS, but booting with a startup disk, then switching to a Avast Disk? :
A better way for handling this is the Avast BartCD, A livelinuxcd like Knoppix or you have to build your own WindowsXP Bootcd by using Bart L.s PE-Builder . But the Problem is that Avast will only work with the Avast Bart CD.
The Problem with a Bootdisk is, that is is almost a Dosdisk and so you are not able to access a NTFS Partition.
See http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=834;start=new
for boot freeware applications…
I think raman is correct. Try BartCD
You can try either avast! 7.7 DOS Edition but it does not fit into just one floppy, you must have a bootable CD whit it…
download at http://www.avast.com/files/eng/avast77e.zip
reference: http://www.avast.com/i_idt_1344.html
avast 7.7 DOS version key: AS770.A123456-24DB67
avast! 7 DOS updates: http://www.asw.cz/i_idt_249.html
Even avast! for DOS is way to large to fit on a floppy. E.g. the VPS file (the virus database) is about 2.5MB for the DOS version so I don’t think there’s a chance to run it from a floppy… sorry. BART CD is the way to go, but its – pricey :-[
