I have downloaded this version but the file ashAvast.exe is missing and it won’t run, also no icons in the tray. Nedd some advice
Try a repair:
control panel, add/remove, avast, change, repair
or:
download again and try to install
Strange, are you sure ashAvast.exe is missing? Did you boot after installing? Do you have any other antivirus in your computer?
Which is exactly the error message you’re receiving?
What is AshAvast.exe and does it need access to internet: http://img222.imageshack.us/my.php?image=whatisthispv0.jpg?
ashavast.exe is the splash screen. After it loads (and if you set so, scans the memory) it will launch ashsimpl.exe (the avast main program, skin, Simple Interface) or ashEnhcd.exe (the Enhanced Interface).
Stricktly telling, it shouldn’t need Internet access, just local access (on your HDD).
