Avast 4 is blocking Youtube videos from playing

I’ve updated to the latest version of Avast, and still have major issues with Youtube videos not loading.
How do I know it’s Avast ?
because when I stop all avast services (I’m using Internet, Email, Standard, and Web shields), the videos load immediately

I’ve tried setting all of youtube’s urls (ytimg, etc) to be ignored, but it doesn’t matter.

Anyone with similar issues ?

Which is your firewall?

No firewall.
Disabled Win Firewall

No need for that. In fact, it’s good to let it running.

Any other security program that could interfere? ThreatFire?

Hi, no, no other security.

When I rightclick the avast icon and choose “Stop On-Access Protection”, as soon as the services have stopped, the page loads.
very strange.

So for now I’m just stopping the protection long enough to get a video to load, then back on.
kind of a pain, but…

HI,
Youtube video needs flashplayer to work properly. Have you got the latest flashplayer installed. Avast should not interfere with this website with all shields running!.

from my first post:
“…How do I know it’s Avast ?

yes, I have flash

I guess I’m the only one experiencing this. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

What AV was installed on the system before Avast?
Are the shields set to the default sensitivity?

Hi. I have the same issue, the youtube videos will not play.

Is there a fix or should I unsubscribe from Avast?

Well… I found a fix, it’s quite simple.

You go in Avast/Menu/Settings/General/Exceptions and just add www.youtube.com

@narc
You should not need to set youtube as a general exeption to watch videos. Not a good idea.
Have you tried turning off one Avast shield at a time to isolate and find which shield is actually preventing play?

Some questions to help us help you:
Which browser or browsers have you tried?
Which version of Avast and whether Free or Paid? (Can we assume it is not Avast 4 as per subject line of this post.)
Which version of Windows?
Any other security software installed now or in the past?
