Just would like to know, whether avast 4 linux engine version same as like avast 4 windows version (4.8.1368)?

in the fact, it’s the very same code-base and nearly the same functionality (except few obscure winexec depackers, tied to x86).
So the versioning is a bit “shifted”, but both engines are pretty recent.

Anyway, according to your statement that mean avast 4 linux have the same engine like avast 4 professional/Free edition rite?
And if user have issue to do updating with their avast 4 linux, what is the cause of this issue?
Each user want to do update, then from avast show notification like : avast couldn’t reach host.

update just downloads (http-get) the file 400.vps from http://files.avast.com/files/latest/400.vps. So, check whether you can access it first.

It is still not able to solve the host yet, i am think that i need to check my Linux Centos (VMware) for internet connection. Because i didn’t able to access to internet.

Me too, I can access the host using dial-up (OpenSuSE Linux 11.2) - but using broadband access (2 Mbps) it should be solve this problems.
But yes, checking connetion is established is the first step

They able to access avast.com or google.co.id (I think their internet connection has been established), but to access your referenced link they didn’t able to accessed it?
And got the same problem, when they try to update their avast 4 linux.

Yesterday I update avast using GUI on Linux. And everything were fine…

Same with me, but in our customer they have a problem when they would like to download through avast GUI and download from Zilog referenced link.
I am not sure, is it caused by internet connection or their something happened with their Linux?
But they able to browse to avast.com or google.com.

Avast400 uses the very same database file on all platforms.
Un*xes download it from http://files.avast.com/files/latest/400.vps
and MacOS from http://files.avast.com/files/latest/mac/400.vps
there’s also 400vps.md5 in the same location, as the 400.vps file.
