avast 4 prof Edition COntracted do not hqve Update conenction.

I have contracted avast Prof Edi 1 year last 2nd August 2007 and cannot be updqted , because it says cannot connect http://dl3.avgate.net ; although I have internet connection. What can I do now ?

Where did you get this avast Pro from ?

There should be no requirement for the update to go anywhere like dl3.avgate.net, updates are usually from http://(without space)download??.avast.com the ?? represents variable numbers.

avgate.net seems to have something to do with avira, do you also have this AV installed on your system ?

I have the invoice in fro, of me: Product Sales By : DIgital RIver Gmbh (Vogelsqnger Str78 50823 COlogne Germany) Product Manufactory : ALWIL Software a.s (Eduqrd Kucerq, Prubezna 76 100 00 Prague Tcheque Rep). I hqd q Demo version and every 3 month he ask me to purchase it and I fqnqlly did it ( I pqyed 35,95 € + TVA 6,83 € = 42,78 € in total) I got the license number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXJ that I entered when the demo version installed asked me for it. But now it looks like the demo version is still going on. Can I download the product from the avqst site again ? I do not know what to do and the tech support looks not easy to find. Thanks for your answers.

You should remove the licence key from your post. Someone could copy it. Some one from Alwil will have to look at this and comment. I concur with DavidR, that the update does not seem right.

The first thing you should do is modify your post and remove your registration key before it gets harvested and used on another system, I don’t know what would happen if multiple copies of your key were found to be in use.

Looks like you purchased avast Pro from an avast reseller, your trial version should still have updated through the avast.com domain.

I would suggest that you download the latest Pro version http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-professional.html, select the Language from the list, save it to your HDD somewhere you can find it later.

Then I would suggest a clean reinstall.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.
Now uninstall, reboot, run the Uninstall Utility, reboot install the latest version, reboot.

Once installed you can enter your registration key.

Can you post a screenshot of your avast! About box, with the registration key expanded?
Anyway, if you get a connection error (though I have no idea what avgate.net is), the problem is more likely with your firewall/proxy/connection… doesn’t sound like a license problem.

http://dlX.avgate.net (e.g. http://dl3.avgate.net) are AVIRA AntiVir update servers.

That is what I posted in Reply #1 and queried if he had that installed, but have yet to get an answer.

Now is OK David. I have remove aVira ANtiVIr and now I can see avast running. THanks to every body and sorry for my mistqkes.

No problem, welcome to the forums.
