when i’m running avast gui, it suddenly dissapeared while scanning as user then i tried the command line one, and greeted with this before it dissappeared
/usr/bin/avast: line 169: 3135 Segmentation fault $AVAST_PREFIX/bin/$programname $*
what happened?
btw, i’m using avast4workstation-1.0.8-1.i586.rpm to install it on CentOS 5.1
Hallo,
is this crash instant (occurs right after the program starts) or is it related to some area or some particular file on your HDD?
In the first case, there was a mysterious ocassional bug in some distros where the ld-linux.so loader crashed the app when the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable ended with bare ‘:’ delimiter (strange enough).
I experience the same problem and in my case it’s because of a specific file that crashes the scan.I have spotted the file which is on the Microsoft office directory (the file is on the windows partition)
In which e-mail should i send it?? Just in case i have uploaded with rapidshare and the link is
I am using kubuntu 8.04 with the latest updates and avast-4 home edition v1.08-2 installed with frm .deb file. The office is microsoft office 2003 sp3 (i don’t know if those thinks matter but just in case as always…)
Will you please look into the matter? Thanks in advance
Hallo, in the CHM depacker, there was a STL’s introsort related bug some time ago which might cause this - please, try it with the latest beta-build (http://public.avast.com/~cimbal/test), and tell me whether the crash still occurs.
[yes, at least on our side, with the latest build it works without problems]
Even though i didn’t understand anything from the description of the problem (my fault of course ) everything is ok now with avast4workastation v 1.2.0-2. Thanks again
