Avast 4 Symbian OS

Hi All,

I just see this thread and my question is when avast will provide antivirus protection for symbian OS?

cheers,

Dont get me wrong but i think its the wrong place to ask this question

Hi Yanto,

Good question. We currently don’t plan to create any security solution for the Symbian platform, mainly because of its uncertain future and lack of real malware.

Thanks
Vlk

And how about Avast Theft Aware?

The forum is named “Symbian (unsupported)” so i dont think there will be a version for symbian anymore…

Hi Ondrej,

Yes, since some smartphone vendor whose using symbian OS starting move to Android market.

Let we see the future improvement.

cheers,

hi all, first sorry for my English, i think nokia will continue to develop symbian device, and i think this is good because diversity are always the engine of develop, nokia still remain one of the most important phone producer, with belle release the gap from android and ios is reduced, i use avast from 3 year and i promote it with my friend, colleagues and family, i only hope one day to use it on my phone too. Now i have nokia 701 with symbian belle, my girlfriend and some of my friends also have this phone. Otherwise thanks a lot for your great work with this antivirus

I do use Nokia N97 handset and I downloaded theft aware 2.0 full version from nokia store or OVI store months before. Few months back I deleted that application from my cell. I don’t know what are the details I fed into while installing. My friend is getting messages regarding theft aware 35- 40 times in a day. He gets irritated by those messages. I want to stop or close those messages anyhow.

I don’t wanna any kinda messages regarding theftaware in future. Will you just help me out in these. I want to make it happen asap.

Please sir guide me. I wanna do it at anyhow. Nobody can help me expect you. Waiting for your reply.

Dear Customer,

to stop continuous updates to your friend you only need to open theft aware once. the currently inserted sim will be added to the trusted simcards list.

to open Theft Aware dial your pin like a phone number. you created the pincode on installing theft aware (4-6 digits, only numbers).

To uninstall Theft Aware open it, deactivate Theft Aware and now you see Theft Aware in the list of your apps and can uninstall it.
If you think you already uninstalled it - but it still seems to be on the phone please install this package on your
phone: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27553331/RescueFile.sis - this will give you an icon in the app
menu again with which you can launch Theft Aware. Then deactivate Theft Aware and uninstall it.

As we don’t support the Symbian version any more I need to ask you to consult our manual available at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27553331/TheftAwareSymbian%202_00_User_Guide_English.pdf if you need further help.
Give it a try – it’s short and easy to understand! 99% of all questions are already answered and can be found with a quick google search.

If you forgot/lost your access pin we have a difficult situation. Theft Aware doesn’t send the pin code to our servers and there is no master key for security reasons.
All we can recommend is to backup your data and hardreset the device.
