Hello, I just found this forum, I hope I can get some help!
I am trying out Avast! and have one issue: Vista’s firewall keeps telling me that Avast! is outdated. Opening up Avast! shows it’s up to date. ???
There’s the rub, I’m testing this on 4 PC’s, my other Vista system does not have this issue. My XP systems don’t either.
Is there a quick fix? : I know I can turn off Vista’s monitoring, but is there a more correct way? I’m not sure why my other PC’s don’t have this issue.
I saw that when I came here. (5.0.507). I just opened Avast! and manually attempted to upgrade. In about 3 seconds it stops and tells me that the software is “Already up to date”.
Can I download and manualy install that over the version I have?
The 5.0.377, was I believe either a beta or pre-release build so when you check for updates it is looking for beta/pre-release builds.
As is this is an early build it would be best to do a clean install of avast 5.0.507, I assume that you are using the free antivirus version.
Download the latest version of avast, 5.0.507 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 4.8 and 5.0).
Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 4.8 if previously installed and then for 5.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
