Avast 5.0.507 running until !!!

Avast forum,
Dell D400 laptop running MS Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002,
SP3 with 1GB ram and 160 GB hard disc.

My Avast Internet Security Pro version software has been
running fine lately until I downloaded an application from:
www.software.omronhealthcare.com

After the download and before I unzipped it my Avast was stopped
and I couldn’t get it to start again. I tried “Fix Now” and rebooting,
neither worked. I had to uninstall and re-install Avast Internet
Security version 5.0.507 and re-boot.

I must admit that the Omron website suggested that I disable any
antivirus software which I did not do.

Is this to be expected?

Are there any (recent) unpXXXXX.mdmp files in your folder
C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\Log
?

igor,
There weren’t any .mdmp files in my log folder. Of course I uninstalled
Avast so it was probably deleted.
If this happens again I will check for one before uninstalling.
