Everyone else has one, but ‘you’ can’t see their envelope (email address) and they equally can’t see yours.
The IM icon is a personal message ‘internal communication’ between forum members, you can’t use that function until you have 20 posts.
Thank you for your patience, but now I am totally confused.
When I click my envelope, in the TO: line it has my email address.
Why would I want to send myself an internal message?
There is no image attached to this post. Or am I going mad?
What else do you think it would do all it is is a mailto link (hover your mouse over the icon). That is what the mailto link does it creates an email with the email address in the To address of the email in the mailto link.
You don’t want to send your self an email, who does, but no one else can send you an email either as for them the icon isn’t there. The only others who can see it are the moderators, if they need to contact you for any reason, then they need access to that icon so it is displayed.
Because ‘you’ have access to your own profile, then you too can see it.
