Avast 5.0.545 - Can't open web pages and download mails

Hi everyone!

I installed the Avast free antivirus version in subject, but if I try to open a web page, the browser only show me a white page. If I try to download mails from server, it’s impossible, I receive an error message.
If I deactivate “web protection” and “mail protection”, in Avast, the navigation is ok, and also the mail download.
I think I must do some settings…but I don’t know which settings…

I’m running Windows XP Home Edition

It’s a little complicated…well, I had Avast 4.8 free antivirus, but before installing Avast 5.0.545 I installed Avast Internet Security. I kept it only for a week, because my pc ran very slowly with it.
So, I disinstalled it, and I installed the latest version of free antivirus 5.0.545…
For disinstalling Avast Internet Security, I used the file downloaded from avasta web site…

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
6. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro.
7. Check and post the results.

I followed these instructions and now everything is running…with “mail protection” and “web protection” activated
