Just did my first boot up on start combined with Avast 5.0 scan.
Unfortunately it appears that doing other things with PC combined with boot up scan is not an option.
i.e need to start computer as normal and then run scan option.
Is this correct? It appears that after Avast 5 boot up only option is to either let it continue or press Escape which stops the scan.
Thanks: Ian Mc
I’m not sure I understand exactly what you mean, but scheduling a boot type scan is not something that would normally be done all that often, and certainly not at every bootup.
Scheduling a scan at bootup enables a scan to be done before other application software has been started and the computer is then not available for other work until it has been completed, or you abort the scan. Obviously there is no point scheduling this type of scan at next bootup if you are going to abort it.
Hope this helps
That is the whole point of the boot-time scan it runs before windows has started fully, this is to overcome problems with removing malware, etc. when windows is running, it isn’t a routine scan.
So no you can’t do anything else until it has finished and windows completes the startup or you do as you say press Esc to quit the scan. That function hasn’t changed from what it did in avast 4.8.
Thanks Guys
Does look like the early morning boot up is the way to go.

You don’t need to do that when you schedule a boot-time scan it is a one shot deal, runs once if you want it to run again you schedule it again.
