I don’t understand why avast 5.1.677 is available to download but not on software update. It wants to uninstall the older version of avast 5.0.677 snd I don’t know if I should. I will loose all my settings if i uninstall.
There is no 5.1.677 available for download - it’s just an incorrectly labeled package.

I looked all over the web “no” 5.1…yet. I found a lot of “5.1.677” but no real 5.1. Can you say, “oops”. 5.1 is not, I repeat, is not out yet. Someone is pulling someone’s leg. Ya think?
Indeed, there is no Avast! 5.1 yet. But … biting on my tongue, because I am not allowed to tell … we are close to a Avast! 5.1 BETA, and NOT a RELEASE as some forum members think. In fact we are very very close to it

The 5.1 beta will most likely be posted here on Monday (i.e. tomorrow).
It will contain only some of the new stuff I was talking about - with the rest being included in the v6 beta that will follow in about 1 month. At least that’s the plan for now.
BTW yes, the 5.1.677 package is a red herring - that is, it’s identical to the original 5.0.677 with the new virus defs bundled with it. It’s not the real v5.1.
