Avast 5 Crashed PC

Hi,

I had the old version of Avast installed on my desktop and was prompted to install the new version 5 as it was available.

I downloaded, installed then automatic reboot started the machine again. Everything was working fine until the PC suddenly froze, I couldn’t get anything to register so did a manual reboot.

When I try and login now I get to the windows logon screen, but when I try and login the machine blue screens with a message containing

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

It asks about new Hardware / Software, but the only thing that’s changed is Avast.

Then the machine just starts restarting.

I’ve tried to start it up in Safe Mode, but after a certain time of starting up just starts rebooting again.

I see that there was a similar problem in the post

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=63911.0

The only difference being that they could actually get into safe mode. I would try and run the uninstaller, but of course can’t even login.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks,

P

Please send me (kurtin@avast.com) a couple of latest minidumps from \Windows\Minidump folder.

You can uninstall avast from Safe Mode, if it’s not working, try “Safe Mode with Networking”.
