I just found, accidentally, a virus :o on my machine while disabling services. Avast ;D gave the pop up and I chose delete IMMEADIALTY. Would there be a record of this and if so where does Avast keep that log file ???
Hello Randumb and welcome to the forum: Could you please provide further info in order to better provide relevant suggestion to resolve your questions and concerns. What OS are you running? What version of Avast are you currently using?
I can understand the shock that can be felt when suddenly being Alerted of a virus having been detected. Typically, it is adviseable to quaranteen the item to the Virus Chest where it can do no harm to your OS but yet can be viewed and the name noted as well as then being sent to Avast for further analysis. Once it is deleted it is gone and can no longer be reserched.
I know Avast keeps scan logs but I’m not aware of a log of detected deleted viruses.
Please perform a boot-time just to make sure nothing is lerking inside your system.Go to the SCAN TAB and shedule a boot-time scan and feel free to report the findings back here.

I dont like sharing alot…I know that can make it hard to deal with things such as this. I will say Im running a 64 bit OS with AV 5(IS). If there is no record of what I deleted then I guess Im back to another re-install. This one was off my backup disk, which was made when my machine was already infected. Also, after deleting this virus, the forum got to looking better. Before it I could not read the ‘LOGOUT’ option fully, now I can.I just discovered this is about Compatibility issues with IE7 vs IE8 when I had to go into ‘Compatibility Mode’ to post a longer than normal posting
Does Alwil want any log files…I dont participate in ‘Avast Community’ so let me know.
Time to use ORIGINAL SOFTWARE…should have known better but didnt want to look thru it all to find the pretty holographic disk. Cant wait for the new build for its BOOT TIME scanning on 64 bit OS’s 8)
Hi Randumb: If I could suggest adding some of the more pertinent OS information to your signature below like many of us have it will enable us to assist you better, because the advice/suggestions will be different depending on what OS and Security Software you are running. This would be to your advantage. ![]()
