Hoping someone can help find the solution to my problem.
I’ve emailed support days ago but got no reply.
I installed Avast 5 trial on my computer (winxp) to test it and buy licence for 20 pcs if its anywhere as good as avira.
Outlook 2000 is installed on my computer collecting mail from pop3 accounts.
Avast 5 did not create an avast junk folder as per the antispam settings.
Avast 5 is NOT marking spam emails when I open outlook and click send/receive.
It will however mark emails as spam later only if I leave my outlook open permanantly; but still won’t move them to the selected spam folder in the antispam settings.
Avast 5 is correctly installed in both the Addin manager and the com addins in the advanced options section of outlook.
I’ve already tried removing avast and installing again but that didn’t work.
Anyone got a solution for me as I’ve been banging my head on this for a week now and can’t get it working…
Could you provide me with the asoutext.log file? It is located in c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\alwil software\avast 5\log for WinXP and in c:\ProgramData\alwil software\avast 5\log for Vista/Win7
Thank you,
there is one lead that might indicate what is going on. I cannot reproduce the problem here, so it is just my guess, anyway I made a change to the code which might help. Please test it in the next beta refresh (due out after Easter Monday).
Report back if that resolved the problem.
If the toolbar does not appear, ensure that you check View > Toolbars > avast! Antispam checked and try again.
If you still have no luck then close outlook and go to Avast > Settings > Maintenance and enable debug logging. The new build of asOutExt.dll (not the current 5.0.462) supports verbose debug info. Start Outlook, wait for it to fully load, close it, wait for it to shutdown and then post the asOutExt.log (which should now have extra debug information about the plugin’s lifecycle)
