Recently, I had to install a new operating system on my computer, which wiped all my programs off. I installed Avast 5 free edition, and proceeded to put in the license file to upgrade to pro, but when I did/do, it says “Now upgrading to pro” and starts to download files, then stops and says “You have the latest version.”, and the program is left in avast 5 free. Any idea what may have caused this? License file can only be used once or something?
Also, I did try restarting the computer after doing so.
I had this same problem, but with the Internet Security suite.
The only way I could find to fix it was to completely remove avast! Free Antivirus, reboot, install avast! Internet Security, and then reboot again (and then reconfigure the newly installed suite).
It should then accept your license file without issue.

Guys, I can confirm that the current official version of avast Pro and IS has a problem related to the inserting of license files.
This will be fixed in the upcoming update, due very soon.
