Ok, so i repair computers, and i have noticed that almost all the computers that get reinstalled with XP, with SPIII and IE8, will not browse with IE when the latest version of Avast is installed. I know its the web shield doing it, and the only things done on these computers is windows activation, drivers and all windows updates.
Ive tried the winsock fix as sugested in many topics on here for the same issue, but unlike the many topics on here, mine dont end with “yay its fixed”
any idea on what is going on here, and how to fix it? I prefer avast (am an Avast reseller) but when it stuffs up like this, i have had no option but to use something else. I would prefer to have some fix for this so i can keep on using avast for all of my customers.
Are most of these computers pre-installed with an AV (such as Norton or McAfee), typical of many computers sold new?
If so, even if the AV is turned off, it still needs to be removed and the appropriate tool run.
hi, thanks for the reply. in the case of all of these computers, its literally a fresh install off an OEM disc by me, so no 3rd party software at all (not even adobe, flash etc) the only things installed is windows xp, the updates (inc SP3 and IE8) hardware drivers and Avast.
When Avast 5 initially installed on my XPpro computer I found that my Comcast internet speed was running most of the time like a dialup, while my wife’s XP home laptop was running wireless just fine. Per a Comcast suggestion I replace my 5 year old modem & saw an increase in speed for a few of weeks. Then a week ago all http connections (using IE7 & Chrome) come to a complete halt, while https were still there, but at connections slowed to dialup speed! Go figure!!!
After a week of messing around with all kinds of ideas of my own & working with IObit & their Advanced SystemCare Professional, I found that if I turn off Avast 5’s web shield all of my internet problems goes away!!!
So now my question is… is there a web shield setting to fix this, because I don’t see one? If this is a problem that can’t be fixed… I hate to say… maybe it’s time to move on?
SAME PROBLEM HERE!
Just installed Avast 5 free to my PC and don’t let me BROWSE the web.
If i stop avast, then it let me browse the web.
I am using Windows XP, and windows firewall are disable.
How to solve these problem?
Please, help in common English, i am not an expert.
Thanks,
If you will use the forum search feature, you will find that there are many problems with IObit & their Advanced SystemCare Professional. You will also find that ASC Pro is the main problem. If you will uninstall that junk, you will find that all will be better.
By the way, another problem you have is 2 antivirus programs on the same computer is surely a problem maker. You must uninsatll one of them.
