AVAST 5 refuses to update

hi all,

after 2 days of fighting with my PC, last night at last i managed to install and run avast 5.
it works fine except 1 failure of the explorer process.
Today it refuses to download virus definitions etc.

any idea?

what about your internet connection setting :

try
Avast program >> Settings >> Updates >> Proxy Settings

and see if everything ok or not

Try to download (virus database updates) manualy :

http://www.avast.com/download-update

double click and wait for the result

and if it works, so check your internet setting inside avast

finally i managed to download
however now i can’t access any avast menu since the icon disappeared
and running directly doesn’t produce any response.
i looked at the services dialog and avast is at started status.

any idea?
