Avast 5 runs 32 on 64 bit PC?

When I run Avast on my x64 machines (Vista), the task manager says it is running AvastSvc.exe *32

Why is it running 32 bit when there is a 64 bit version separate in the Program Files (as opposed to Program Files x 86)???

There is no separate version… AvastSvc.exe is 32bit, and that’s how it’s supposed to be.

I looked: Avast is installed under my x64 Program Files (there is nothing by Alwil under x86 Program Files).

I thought Avast could run x64 and not just run ON a x64 program? They made a big deal of this when they were one of the first for x64.

But I don’t understand why it installs in the “wrong” (x64) place. Can any one explain?

Thanks!

because the drivers are 64 bit, while the main executables are not.
