i hope they release program update soon which will overcome this issue.

Have you tried a repair of avast?

To do a repair of avast :

Control panel > Add/remove programs > click once on avast to select it > click on Change/Remove > scroll down the left pane and click on repair > click OK> follow directions

Hi all,

I have same symtoms since few days…

The first was with avast version V4.8 with lastest virus list updated.

I had restored my machine from a clean ghost image. Avast 4.8 was already installed. But signatures not updated, also I clicked to update them.

The same BSOD appears sometimes.

After investigations, I discovered that this issue was caused by the ASWSP.sys driver… I saw this info with a tool to read minidump file. Each time this driver is specified into the minidump file

I remove the 4.8 to install a fresh 5.0…downloaded from our web site…

This issue is the same, and the minidump file described always the same .sys file from avast

For now I removed Avast… to see

Please tech Avast team, what are your recommandations ?
How does turn off the self defense, which seems the origin of this issue. And does the self defense is really the origin ?

Hello Metalhead85, after truning off the paremter, does BSOD is stopped ?

I can send to your team minidump files if necessary

Regards
Albatros

:o please for some newbie here. don’t just post the code that only machine can understand. can be a gateway for some hacker ;D
just a point of view.

Full agree with you Bongx2

It’s clearly a security issue of the product.

A good way to force Avast to be reactive to fix it.

Ho Ho,

Does Anyone of Avast Team could give us any info about this issue… ?

Many thanks

I found a great solution to remove definitively Blue Screen (BOSD)

I just removed avast (4.x & 5.x) from my PC… and no BSOD appears…

I have installed other AV, with works fine, and my PC works normally

Thks to Avast team for their “Silence” law… to answer to this big issue, and BUGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Did any of you try the repair of avast as I suggested? ???

Hi Albatros - can you provide any info about this big issue

otherwise you could try this –

Hi Mkis,

No. I have only a minidump file from my crash.

Do you have a Ftp site where i could post the file… (just 100 k)

My PC crashes with 4.8 and also with a fresh 5.0 downloaded directly from your web site

Like said ChorleyO, I can tried to repair… Even with a fresh 5.0 the NSOD appears… No rules (for me) regarding the BSOD. I left my PC running during a night and sometimes BSOD… And sometimes no…

Running XP SP2 without any troubles since longs months, also with Avast 4.8 and suddendly !!!

I restored from a ghost image… same result… probably an issue on specific file during an update. But Which one, and when ? since 2 weeks ago now…aswsp.sys file ? dont’ know

Before my avast worked fine

Hi there

best option is send thru email channel - vlk@avast.com - one of alwil team will address issue if not Vlk.

ensure you add a link to this thread so they know about the issue. If you write a note make it very brief, as they busy.

Also they probably protecting their own servers from overload due to response to new release avast 5. You will have noticed redirect to cnet for downloads. Good luck and dont worry about previous posts. They will understand.
I get hot about things too when they wont work proper.

This link will help explain situation. Looks like the email channel is the best option as Igor says.

I have advised ftp on forum before but seems you should only to use it if advised by one of alwil team, then they will be waiting for it. Here is old avast help sheet for ftp server. I guess they will write new sheet for avast 5 when possible and if needed.

I add this so others on the forum will notice, Alwil can reply if situation has now changed.

OK . I will do…

And if I have some news, I will post them there.
