Avast 5 systray problem

Hello all,
I just installed Avast 5 Free. But when I start my computer the avast 5 icon doesn’t appear in the systray. The only possibility to let it appear is to mannually disable the systray function and after that enable it again. Sorry for my English.

happens here off and on, I generally log out and back in to get it back. Avast isn’t the only program with such an issue, and it’s more a Windows issue than anything. The more icons (ie programs starting in the background) you have,
the more it’s likely to happen. Was a lot worse on XP than on Seven actually.

Hmm, I thought it was more an Avast issue, because it only happens with Avast here. I have Vista btw.

I’ve seen it happen with too many programs to confirm it’s Avast, just too many times, with Comodo, with the sound icon, with the mouse software icon, even with the action center flag etc…

I think you are right. Ik think I can remember it happened before on my old computer with Eset. But I have to say it never happened with Avast 4.8.

It happened to me with avast 5 a couple of times (only on one computer). The updates seemed to correct the problem and it has not recurred. Which made me think just surface hiccup. Unless it recurs, I haven’t got much more I can say about it.

At first, because it only happened on one computer, and in light of other problems users were having with install and run of avast 5, I thought perhaps an issue with desktop settings or config (deeper problem) so Windows issue rather than avast. Still think so but do not have any answers. For the time being I keep reading the forum and checking out the issues with avast 5.
