See what I done up there ^ Anyway does avast 5’s icon spin like avast’s ball in 4.8?
Yes, though given your signature is a rotating icon going to entice you back ;D
Sure it spins. But Vlk won’t love you like Melih does. LOL. And you’ll just get straight answers and some dedicated improvements, not promises of how good it is going to be someday.
Shut up you lot! Melih loves me and only me! Ahem…Anyway yeah something like that could make me come back. A lot of people has been having quite a few problems with Avast 5 which scares me a bit. In saying that it’s a bit like that (a lot like that) in the comodo forums with their beta of CIS 4 with sandbox.
Yes, there are still some outstanding contentions with other security software (like Malware Bytes) but Avast! seems to be working them out with the other vendors, as well as the developers getting dumps from the users to chase things down. Very professional approach to the issues, IMHO. Image your system and give it a try. You have already probably seen a lot of postings about the great GUI and new features of the various versions of Avast! 5.
I have it running on 2 Vista and 1 XP3 machine with no problems at all. Updates are transparent and frequent and a lot more than just signatures.
I might just jump in Is the water warm?
Come on in the water is fine as are the hot and cold running women and the poolside drinks ;D
off topic:
it's a bit like that (a lot like that) in the comodo forums with their beta of CIS 4 with sandbox
been watching off and on, this beta testing of CIS 4 seems a disaster and even a nightmare for many. It’s not just about the sandbox, which is their worse failure so far, but also about how def+ now behaves in V4, seems to be many regressions when referred to V3. Ah they’ll fix it. I’m only half sarcastic, I seriously believe they’ll deliver a good product with most things fixed in the end, at least for the firewall, def+/sandbox, I trust them for that. The AV is another story…
The AV is hiding behind Defence + me thinks.
Comodo might be going down the avast route ie free and pro version of their firewall. http://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews-cis/different-versions-of-upcoming-cis-4-t51358.0.html If they do that the company is done, as so much was done by the users because of the fact is was free ie bug testing and the like.
Comodo Internet Security Free ...Complete ...Plus ...Prointeresting... will be hard to justify that after it's been completely free for so long... may be they refer to extra services...what's worrying is the "complete" version ;D could actually mean that the main suite won't be free anymore... so in its complete current form I mean.
edit: on the other hand, why would it be mad or the company be done with that, I was one of those when CFP 3.0 (and later CIS) came out to state that offering for free such a firewall+HIPS was a bit mad…considering the development time spent on it. the argument then was that Comodo expected in return enterprises to buy more ssl products once they feel more secure on the Internet with CIS. The reasoning there was ridiculous. Supposed causes and expected effects totally unrelated imo. So now that they’ve realized that it was commercially suicidal, and CIS became in the meantime rather popular, they may want to sell it. Or they planned that in advance, long ago, I’ve thought about it…no big deal.
To your comment, that wouldn’t be exactly the Avast way as the AV part of Avast software is completely free, and that’s, imo, what so far constitutes the best of what Avast produces, not even mentioning that since V5 the “free” AV version doesn’t lack a single AV related feature.
ps: sorry for the off topic here on my side, but anyway I think the whole thread should be moved to the general topics section no?
What I meant by the Avast way is a free product then a pro product then a ultra product.
yeah I know… let’s see what the content of these CIS 4 versions will be first, as we don’t know much yet, I’m following this thread you linked to here ;D
Well it isn’t an ultra product, there have always been a Home (free) and Pro (paid) AV so no change there.
The introduction of the Avast Internet Security suite with firewall and anti-spam, etc. has never been free but a paid option.
So this is worlds away from what comodo are considering as their suite has been free in the past and that is a big difference.
Not really as if you wanna take it on it’s most basic level one will be free 2 will be chargeable like erm…Avast!
and another big difference there is that Comodo let the users start the beta testing without saying what would be free and what not in the end… >>> this forum could implode soon I predict ![]()
Well not really, on its most basic level the Pro version has never been free, so avast never changed its charging policy. Those avast Home/free users aren’t suddenly going to be charged since comodo has always been free (and I thought Melih said it always would); now there is a different policy and I can see why some of their users will be pi**ed.
actually, I was just thinking, I only tested CIS 4 beta (the first one, second beta I couldn’t install, bsod during the setup) a few hours and it was called “free”, so I don’t think, as someone just mentioned in the thread there, that they would remove anything out of it in the final release. It was mentioned before the testing started that a behavior blocker would come, and it’s not in the beta. My best guess is it will be part of what they call the “complete” (and paid) version.
As to “plus” and “pro”, I suppose it’s about online services…
I am not beta testing that “thing” If CIS or part of it becomes chargeable then people will expect a more erm what’s the best way to put it ah “streamlined” service and if they don’t get it there will be hell to pay as they have paid! Me personally I would be fine if they said firewall free, defence plus free, AV free, and all the extra crap like the PC expert service is part of the new whatever it is. Hmmmmm if they make the AV chargeable it would make my leaving the AV part quicker. Leaving = dumping!
As has this never been free http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/comodo-security-pro.html so now lets look at this again.
